Job description

We are Etergo. Our singular aim is to bring clean transportation to the masses. Founded in 2014, we have grown our company with over 70 agile thinkers, building on high-end electric, two-wheeled transportation with AppScooter; our first product to demonstrate that city mobility can be clean, and deeply integrated with technologies that connect us. As we are growing fast, we are now looking for a Commodity Buyer (Mechanical)  to join our team in Amsterdam.


Your role will be supporting the Project Team and creating a first class supply base for the Commodity Mechanical parts together with Supply Chain team. You will be leading the RFx processes and define the best supply chain for each product within the commodity. Working for a young company means picking up tasks and responsibilities where needed and this makes it a great place to develop yourself and learn. 

We are looking for someone who can work independently on smaller projects and who isn't afraid to point out room for improvement in our processes.


What you will achieve:

  • Identify and engage with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, quality) to capture global commodity requirements and ensure supplier qualification and quality;

  • Define and execute the commodity purchase strategy for Mechanical parts;

  • Do market research, track and run RFx and contract global suppliers for prototyping and  mass production;

  • Create and present bid-summaries based on TCO, define negotiation strategy;

  • Build up ERP system content, including delivery lead-time, quotations, price lists and supplier information for each commodity;

  • Own the initial purchasing phase up until the closing of the purchasing contract;

  • Actively monitor and mitigate supplier risk including financial, capacity, quality, and compliance.


What you'll bring along for our journey together:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or related field;

  • 5-10 years procurement and sourcing experience, consulting, buyer;

  • You speak, read and write fluently in English;

  • Knowledge on and purchasing experience in die casting and/or plastic injection molding;

  • Demonstrate competence in negotiating skills and assessing vendors;

  • At least Nevi-1 or similar purchasing grade is a plus, however solid buying experience could be just as valuable;

  • Eager to learn and desire to develop and improve.

Will be considered a plus:

  • Experience in sourcing and buying for PTW vehicles would be a plus;

  • Affinity with (electric) vehicles and/or scooters and/or sustainability;

  • Experience with Oracle / Netsuite ERP system

  • Experience in the automotive industry;

  • Experience working in cross-functional Scrum teams.
