Job description

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Finance and Accounting Intern to join our Accounting/Finance team at our HQ in Amsterdam! As a Finance and Accounting Intern at purpose, you will be responsible for helping make the daily finance & accounting operations of our company run smoothly.

The Finance Intern position is primarily responsible for supporting the team in all AP (accounts payable) administrative tasks necessary for the processing of invoices in a timely and accurate manner. 


Day-to-day activities: 

  • Process daily mail and Finance email to ensure appropriate routing of invoices;

  • Enter invoices into the accounting system;

  • Research issues relating to cost codes, account classifications, and purchase orders;

  • Perform all AP related filing and maintain physical and electronic vendor records;

  • Process vendor payments and vendor credits;

  • Reconcile vendor statements and maintain an updated Accounts Payable Aging;

  • Being responsible for day to day operations of all finance functions for our company;

  • Manage, import and process the daily bank statements;

  • Manage credit cards and bank accounts;

  • Perform bank reconciliation;

  • Support month and quarter end close process.

Requirements

To be a successful candidate, you have:

  • Completed or pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting of Finance;

  • Strong understanding of accounting and numeric data;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse people;

  • Availability for 20+ hours/week;

  • Fluency in English, Dutch nice to have but not mandatory;

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to face off to non-finance staff.
