We are Etergo. Our singular aim is to bring clean transportation to the masses. Founded in 2014, we have grown our company with over 70 agile thinkers, building high-end electric transportation. We are currently working on #AppScooter; our first product to demonstrate that city mobility can be clean, and deeply integrated with technologies that connect us.
As we are growing fast, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Amsterdam. In this position, you will get to own the in-house design of #AppScooter’s electrical control units, (such as the BMS and the body control unit, e.g.) and drive those into series production. You will be a member of a small electronics team of 5 electrical engineers and cooperate closely with the firmware- and structural team. You will be involved in the entire process, including the integration with embedded software, testing, and certification. And you will apply your experience with multiple product development cycles, to foresee potential bottlenecks during production and provide overall guidance to the team.
What you will work on:
Conceptualize, develop, and review electrical designs; review outsourced PCB layouts;
Write embedded firmware, develop requirements and bring-up electrical components;
Plan and carry out electrical design validation of electrical components;
Test electrical subsystems;
Work with suppliers on bringing electrical designs into production and on improving manufacturing practices;
Aid in the design of electrical verification testers and end-of-line testers;
Diagnose and fix electrical issues that come up during production and in the field;
Work with us on new products;
This role is a great fit for you if you are passionate about shaping the future of green mobility and if you want to have ownership of the product development cycle for entire components. Since we are building both a company and a product from the ground up, initiative and an entrepreneurial mindset are key to your success. Your seniority for this role is defined by your exposure to previous development cycles, your willingness to share your knowledge, and your ability to manage the deliverables of your team to meet company goals. In terms of background and skills, this is the right role for you if you have:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering with a focus on embedded systems;
A proactive, energetic personality with the ability to prioritize & multi-task in a fast-paced rapidly changing work environment;
Experience with multiple product development cycles from concept to market introduction;
Design experience with both analog and digital circuits, and the ability to review 3rd party schematic / PCB designs;
C programming skills for embedded devices;
Familiarity with the use of basic lab equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other tools to construct, modify, and debug circuits;
Experience with defining product validation plans;
Technical writing and fluency in English;
Will make you stand out (not a hard requirement):
Showcasing extracurricular projects or hobbies (e.g. engineering student teams, vehicle projects, robotics, hackathons, etc.);
Experience with Altium Designer, NXP microcontrollers, or PCAN Explorer;
Embedded hardware design experience for safety-critical automotive applications or another related field;
Hands-on experience with electric vehicle components, especially battery management, motor control, and high voltage / high current electrical design;
Experience with communication interfaces and protocols including SPI, I2C, and CAN;

How to apply:
No need to write a lengthy formal cover letter, however, we do really appreciate it if you can tell us in your own words why you’d like to work with us and how your experience and personality match up against our requirements. Don’t forget to tell us about a component that you have worked on; something that you are especially proud of!
